Mountain biking in the Andes of Cusco, discover vestiges of the Inca culture in Maras Moray and the communities of the Sacred Valley.

This beautiful bicycle tour will allow you to discover the high part of the Sacred Valley of The Incas. This tour combines a great cultural heritage of the Sacred Valley and Urubamba mountain ranges while we discover its history, natural resources, archaeological sites, the freedom that comes with the practice of mountain biking on route, and also sharing experiences with the local indigenous culture.

Tour highlights!

  • Discover Maras Moray, its history, culture and typical Peruvian cuisine made with natural ingredients from the community.

  • Immerse yourself in the rich history, culture, and flavors of Maras Moray, where you’ll savor authentic Peruvian cuisine crafted from locally sourced ingredients.
    ▪ Embark on a journey through the Sacred Valley, where the legacy of the Inca civilization comes to life amidst stunning landscapes and captivating history.

  • Explore the fascinating archaeological site of Moray, featuring vast natural depressions used by the Incas for agricultural experimentation through intricately designed circular terraces.

Breakfast at your hotel. At 8:30 a.m., we leave Cusco in a private transport heading to the upper part of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Racchi, a small village that preserves its customs and traditions, is the beginning of cycling practice on mountain bikes.
This excursion allows you to discover the enigmatic Inca terraces of Moray, which was probably used for agricultural experimentation, the colonial town of Maras and the salt mines, where we will see the process of collecting salt, a mineral extracted by those inhabitants of pre-Inca cultures. Later, our private transportation will bring you back to the city of Cusco (17:00).

This moderate cycling excursion of about 30 km, in small paths without difficulties will leave you an unforgettable memory.
Maras: is a district of the Urubamba province, reached through a paved road from kilometer 50 on the road Cusco – Chinchero – Urubamba. It is located towards the west of Cusco at an altitude of 3,300 mts. (10,824 feet); over a plain that in prehistoric times was a huge plateau, from which you’re able to observe the Urubamba mountain range including the snow capped mountains of Weqey Willka (today «La Veronica», 5,682 mts. / 18,641 ft.) and » Chikon» (5,530 mts. / 18,143 ft.).

Moray: About 7 kms. (4.3 miles) away southwest from Maras, Moray is a very unique archaeological site in the region. Those are enormous natural depressions or hollows in the ground surface from which the Incas used for constructing irrigated farming terraces around them. What is surprising is that the difference of average annual temperature between the top and the bottom reaches even about 15°C (59°F) in the main depression that is about 30 m. / 100 feet deep.
