Explore Peru with your family in just 7 days and 6 nights. Enjoy exciting adventures while discovering the beauty of Peru.
Travelling together as a family is one of life’s greatest experiences. It provides much-needed time together away from the daily routine, allows parents to share their knowledge of travel, contributes to education and respect for the local culture with the youngest members of the household and creates memories that last for a lifetime. Family holidays are specifically designed to offer a combination of educational activities as well as exploration of Peruvian culture.
Each trip has been designed according to the needs and interests of a family with children (13-17 years). The age range may vary. We can adapt our itinerary to each family’s needs, with parent’s consent. Each trip has a different challenging difficulty level, depending on the tourist activities of one of our trips
We are committed to ensuring that new generations continue to explore Peruvian history and culture, having as little impact on the surroundings as possible when we travel. Together with the families, we promote social tourism in the local communities that openly share their homes with us through projects for the development of economic reactivation in the local community. Learn more about responsible tourism management.
Experience the best of Peru with our Family Adventure tour! Immerse yourself in the stunning landscapes of the Sacred Valley, where you’ll stay in peaceful accommodations surrounded by picturesque mountains. Get to know the vibrant local culture by meeting artisans, exploring textile art, and interacting with farmers and residents. Don’t forget to say hello to the friendly alpacas and llamas!
For thrill-seekers, we offer exciting activities like mountain biking through Maras Moray or ziplining in the Sacred Valley.
We welcome you upon your arrival at the Cusco airport. Our private transport and guide will be waiting for you there to take you to your selected hotel in the Sacred Valley of the Incas (1 hour trip). On the way, while enjoying the splendid views of the Sacred Valley, we stop in Pisac (2,972 m), a small and charming village located at the base of the archaeological complex of Pisac. The town is famous for its colourful handicraft market and for its ruins at the top of the mountain (impressive terraces that form part of a historical site) If time permits we also visit Awanacancha, a South American farm, where you and your family can meet some of Peru’s famous local furry animals: Llamas, Alpacas and Vicuñas.
You have the rest of the afternoon free to rest and acclimatize to altitude. You could also spend a relaxing afternoon exploring your hotel. You spend the first night at the selected hotel.
After breakfast, our driver takes you to the Inkariy Museum, where we can travel through time to find out more about the history of Peru, which not only includes the splendorous Inca Empire, but also includes Caral, Chavin, Paracas, Moche, Nasca, Wari, Lambayeque and Chimu history. These were societies exposed within a chronological tour of the different civilizations of ancestral Peru. Afterwards, we continue on our way to the community of Misminay (3,700 m) in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where you spend the night at a local family house.
Misminay – Community Tourism
This community is known for its ancestral textile art and you have the opportunity to discover their elaborate techniques and admire their handicraft work in ceramics and textiles. You will also learn about the ancestral techniques for the production of potatoes, moraya and chuño (dehydrated potato) and corn. You will also learn about and experience the use of medicinal herbs that are deeply rooted in the local culture. The aim is to share a moment with the local inhabitants, respecting the customs and traditions of a local culture. You will also have the opportunity to share typical Peruvian food made with natural ingredients grown by the community.
After having breakfast with the Misminay family home, you can choose between the following activities:
Later, our private transportation will take you to the town of Ollantaytambo. Visit Ollantaytambo (2,800 m), which is considered the last Inca village thanks to its houses and narrow streets, remains of Inca constructions, as well as its archaeological center. Overnight and dinner in Ollantaytambo village.
Breakfast at the hotel. We board the train from Ollantaytambo to Km 104, the beginning of the Inca Trail. From Km 104, we discover the Inca Trail network and the archaeological site of Chachabamba (2,270 m), where agricultural products were collected to supply the citadel of Machu Picchu.
Then, we continue along a sloping road with impressive views of the upper part of the Vilcabamba mountain range and the lower part of the Urubamba River, where the flora and its different species have been able to develop thanks to the microclimates of the region. A short and steep gradient will take us to the interior of the main archaeological site of Wañayhuayna (2,700 m), a fabulous urban complex, perched on a rocky outcrop, overlooking the Urubamba Valley and dominated by a vast set of terraces.
After lunch, we head to the Inti Punku (The Sun Gate) located at 2,780 meters, and contemplate a beautiful sunset with a view of Machu Picchu citadel.
Later, we descend to the archaeological site of Machu Picchu (2,400 meters), to take some pictures considering that the official visit will take place the next day. A tourist bus awaits us to take us to Aguas Calientes town (2,050 meters), where we will settle in a comfortable hotel.
After breakfast, we leave our hotel to take the first bus up to the citadel of Machu Picchu (30 minutes of transport). The sunrise and the company of our bilingual guide will allow you to discover the Inca culture in the territory of Tahuantinsuyo (4 regions of the Inca Empire), as well as the cults and ceremonies performed in the many temples and sacred places present in the citadel. After the guided tour, you will enjoy the magic of the historic sanctuary of Machu Picchu, to take some pictures in memory of your own experience. Lunch at the Tinkuy, Sanctuary lodge restaurant: a buffet lunch experience while visiting Machu Picchu!
Then, we will return to Aguas Calientes town to board the train to Ollantaytambo, where our transportation will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Cusco.
Breakfast at your hotel. Around 8:30 a.m., a private transfer will take you from your hotel to discover the archaeological monuments of Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo and Tambomachay (3,700 m), located on the outskirts of the city of Cusco. Back to Cusco, a walking tour exploring the Cultural Heritage of the Nation, its Main Square, main square of the town since its foundation in Inca times, the Monastery of Santo Domingo Church built on the foundations of the Koricancha Temple (Temple of the Sun) and inside, the most representative jewel of the Inca architecture, its alleys and authentic constructions of the Inca and Colonial times.
Later, choose between two culinary experiences, a cooking class with an expert chef or a hands-on chocolate making workshop. The cooking class features an introduction to Peruvian gastronomy and a demonstration of the natural ingredients that can be found in an Andean market such as potatoes, tomatoes, quinoa beans, rocoto, cocoa or chocolate and a variety of tropical fruits. It’s cooking time: you will learn how to make ceviche, a popular Peruvian appetizer before preparing the main course, lomo saltado, made with alpaca meat (ingredients can be adapted to dietary requirements for Vegetarian, Vegan or Allergies). Alternatively, at the Chocolate Museum you can learn about the chocolate-making process with a Bean-to-bar workshop. From roasting cocoa beans to molding chocolates, for your own sweet treats.
In the afternoon, free time for your family’s own interests. Overnight at a selected hotel. Dinner at leisure.
